Head Start Preschool Teacher

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Head Start Preschool Teacher to join our early childhood education team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating a nurturing and engaging learning environment for young children, fostering their social, emotional, and cognitive development. This role involves implementing developmentally appropriate curricula, managing classroom activities, and supporting children's individual needs through specialized instruction. The Head Start Preschool Teacher will play a vital role in preparing children for future academic success while ensuring their safety and well-being.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum plans aligned with early childhood education standards, including literacy, math, physical education, and social skills.
  • Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning and development for children of diverse backgrounds.
  • Manage daily classroom activities, including lesson planning, behavior management, and assessment of student progress.
  • Foster strong communication with parents and guardians regarding children's development, milestones, and any concerns.
  • Support children with special needs through individualized education plans (IEPs) and early intervention strategies.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessments, and progress reports in compliance with program requirements.
  • Ensure safety protocols are followed at all times to promote child welfare and well-being within the classroom setting.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan school-wide activities and participate in ongoing professional development opportunities.
  • Incorporate Montessori or other specialized teaching methods as appropriate to enhance learning experiences.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field; additional certifications in special education or Montessori teaching are preferred.
  • Experience working with preschool-aged children in classroom settings, including daycare or private school environments.
  • Knowledge of childhood development theories, behavior management techniques, and classroom management strategies.
  • Familiarity with curriculum development, lesson planning, literacy education, math instruction, and standardized testing procedures.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively engage with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • Experience with early intervention programs and understanding of child welfare practices is advantageous.
  • Ability to create an inclusive environment that supports children’s physical, emotional, and educational needs.
  • Prior experience working with toddlers or in preschool settings is highly desirable.
