Job Description - Head Teacher Teaching and Learning

Cherrybrook Technology High School (CTHS) is a large, comprehensive, coeducational high school established in 1992. CTHS has an enrolment of 2,098 students, with 74% coming from non English speaking backgrounds. The school boasts a highly motivated team of teaching, administrative, and support staff, along with students and parents, all committed to achieving strong academic outcomes within a technologically innovative and nurturing environment. A key aspect of the school's ethos is that every Cherrybrook student upholds respect, responsibility, and engagement, fostering a positive and inclusive school community. Cherrybrook Technology High School values and encourages a wide range of academic, cultural, and sporting pursuits. Extensive extracurricular activities are available for students to excel in sports and cultural events, along with opportunities to participate in leadership initiatives. Remuneration Package

Remuneration package valued at $168,946.00. This position attracts a base salary of $149,059.00, plus leave loading and employer's contribution to superannuation.

Selection Criteria

Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria, the following specific criteria are required:

  • Demonstrated ability to analyse and interpret student data to inform teaching strategies, identify areas for development, and implement targeted whole school strategies that enhance student learning.
  • Experience in designing, delivering, and evaluating high impact professional learning programs that support the continuous professional growth of teaching staff and drive measurable improvements in student engagement and achievement.
  • Highly developed skills in supporting and mentoring all career stages to build teacher capacity and confidence within a large, dynamic school community.
  • Proven ability to contribute effectively to the school executive by leading whole school initiatives aligned with strategic plans, fostering continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
General Selection Criteria
  1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice.
  2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs.
  3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams.
  4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents.
  5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning.
  6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy.
Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
