Position Information

Warialda Public School is located in rural and remote, Northwest New South Wales and has a student enrolment of 188. The school culture is that of connectedness, inclusion and belonging with students, staff, parents and the wider community working together to promote school excellence.

The school's population consists of students having a language background other than English and students who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.

Extra curricular opportunities in Sport, Science, Technology, and Creative and Performing Arts enable students to excel through a range of different experiences. The school places significant emphasis on providing an extensive range of opportunities for all students.

The new Warialda Public Preschool is planned to be operational from 2027. Public preschools provide secure, positive, and stimulating learning environments guided by the Early Years Learning Framework to help all children make a strong start in life, learning and experience a successful transition to school. Universal access to early childhood education ensures that every child can participate in a quality preschool program in the year before school.

Specific Selection Criteria
  • Demonstrated ability to articulate and implement a clear vision for a new public preschool, with exceptional leadership skills in integrating strategic consultation and planning, human and financial resource management, and strong community and stakeholder collaboration whilst implementing department policies and procedures, the Early Years Framework and regulatory compliance.
  • Proven expertise in leading and delivering school excellence, explicit teaching, and evidence based, innovative practices across every classroom, while implementing departmental processes to ensure HPGE for a diverse range of students, so that every child can learn, grow, and belong.
  • Proven and strong interpersonal skills to build authentic connections with students, families, departmental partners, external organisations and the community, while being a highly visible, approachable leader who fosters positive school culture, motivates staff and students, and models adaptability, equity, and excellence.
General Selection Criteria
  1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education.
  2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs.
  3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community.
  4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning.
  5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning.
  6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policy and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

The classification and remuneration of our school principals is based on school complexity, as measured through each school's RAM allocation. As part of the ongoing application of the new structure a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis. The principal classification for this school is Principal Level P1 for 2025 and Principal Level P1 for 2026.
