Health, Safety, and Environment Officer - Building Projects

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and enforce HSE policies, procedures, and safe work practices on site
  • Conduct routine site inspections, safety audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards
  • Ensure immediate corrective actions are implemented for unsafe conditions and behaviors
  • Monitor compliance with PPE requirements and safety regulations at all times
  • Lead and support incident/accident investigations and prepare detailed reports
  • Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings, and on-site training for workers and subcontractors
  • Review and support preparation of risk assessments, method statements, and permit-to-work systems
  • Coordinate with project teams and contractors to maintain a safe working environment
  • Maintain accurate HSE records, reports, and safety performance data
  • Participate in safety meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in an HSE role within construction or similar industries
  • Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or OSHA (preferred or required)
  • Strong knowledge of HSE regulations, standards, and best practices
  • Good leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to conduct safety training and influence safe behavior on site
  • Strong observation, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, site-based environment
