Job Responsibilities (JR)
1) Technical Diagnosis & Troubleshooting (CORE)
- Inspect and diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults in heavy trucks (tipper, flatbed, tanker, trailer, skip loader).
- Identify root cause of breakdowns and recurring vehicle issues.
- Decide the exact spare parts required before repair.
- Use diagnostic tools and scanners for engine, transmission, ABS, and ECU faults.
2) Hands-On Repair & Maintenance
- Carry out major and minor repairs on:
- Engines, gearboxes, clutches, differentials
- Brake systems (air brakes)
- Suspension, steering, and axles
- Hydraulic systems (tippers, skip loaders)
- Cooling and fuel systems
- Perform preventive maintenance as per manufacturer schedules.
- Test vehicles after repair to ensure full operational readiness.
3) Spare Parts Identification & Control
- Prepare accurate spare parts lists and repair scope.
- Coordinate with procurement/store for genuine or approved parts.
- Ensure correct parts installation and quality of workmanship.
- Reduce unnecessary part replacement and maintenance cost.
4) Workshop & Breakdown Management
- Attend emergency breakdowns (on-site / road).
- Supervise junior mechanics and helpers during repairs.
- Decide whether repair should be done in-house or outsourced.
- Ensure minimal downtime of vehicles.
5) Maintenance Records & Reporting
- Maintain maintenance history and repair records for each vehicle.
- Record parts replaced, labor hours, and repair outcomes.
- Support fleet availability planning through technical inputs.
6) Safety & Compliance
- Follow workshop safety procedures and HSE requirements.
- Ensure repaired vehicles are roadworthy and safe to operate.
- Support accident vehicle inspection and damage assessment.
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 5–10 years experience in heavy truck maintenance.
- Strong hands-on experience with (Volvo, Scania, MAN, Mercedes, DAF) trucks
- Excellent fault diagnosis and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently without supervision.
- Knowledge of hydraulic and air brake systems is mandatory.
