Job Title: Lab In-Charge / Laboratory In-Charge

Reports To: Medical Superintendent / Pathologist / Hospital Administrator
Job Summary
The Lab In-Charge is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the hospital laboratory, ensuring accurate diagnostic testing, compliance with quality standards, proper staff management, and adherence to statutory and accreditation requirements.
Key Responsibilities Laboratory Operations
- Supervise daily laboratory activities including sample collection, testing, reporting, and dispatch.
- Ensure accuracy, reliability, and timely delivery of laboratory test results.
- Monitor workflow to maintain efficiency and turnaround time (TAT).
Staff Supervision
- Manage lab technicians, phlebotomists, and support staff.
- Prepare duty rosters and ensure adequate staffing.
- Provide training, guidance, and performance monitoring.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with NABL / ISO / hospital quality standards.
- Implement and monitor quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) procedures.
- Maintain proper documentation, SOPs, and audit readiness.
Equipment & Inventory Management
- Oversee maintenance, calibration, and validation of laboratory equipment.
- Ensure availability of reagents, consumables, and chemicals.
- Coordinate with vendors for equipment servicing and procurement.
Safety & Hygiene
- Ensure biosafety, infection control, and waste disposal as per hospital and statutory norms.
- Train staff on safety protocols and emergency procedures.
Coordination & Reporting
- Coordinate with doctors, nursing staff, and hospital administration.
- Review and validate test reports before release (where applicable).
- Prepare monthly reports on workload, quality indicators, and inventory.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education:
- B.Sc / M.Sc in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) or equivalent
- Experience:
- 5–10 years of experience in hospital laboratory services
- At least 2–3 years in a supervisory or in-charge role preferred
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures and diagnostics
- Leadership and team management skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Knowledge of NABL, ISO, and hospital compliance standards
- Good communication and coordination skills
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with LIS/HIS systems
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
