Pocketbook Hudson is a new prototype of experiential hotels in Hudson, NY. Occupying a full city block just off Warren Street, the hotel complex resides in a fully restored historic mill factory built in 1883. Embracing its generous space and industrious history, the property hosts 46 guest rooms and suites, a bathhouse and spa, evening restaurant, all-day café, a flexible event space, and a nightclub for revelry.

Role Summary

The Housekeeping Manager is responsible for the cleanliness, presentation, and overall condition of all guest-facing and back-of-house spaces at Pocketbook Hudson. This role leads the housekeeping team with warmth and clear direction, setting and maintaining the standards that define our guests’ experience from the moment they arrive to the moment they depart. The Housekeeping Manager reports directly to the General Manager and plays a critical role in the daily rhythm and long-term culture of the property. This is an exempt, salaried position.

The Specifics

– Lead, schedule, and supervise the housekeeping team across all shifts, ensuring adequate coverage and consistent execution of standards.

– Oversee the cleaning, presentation, and readiness of all 46 guest rooms and suites, public spaces, spa and bathhouse, restaurant, event spaces, and back-of-house areas. – Develop and implement a comprehensive onboarding and training program for all housekeeping team members, including room attendants, housemen, and public area attendants.

– Conduct daily inspections of rooms and common areas to ensure all spaces meet Pocketbook Hudson’s standards before guest arrival.

– Manage daily room assignments and boards, balancing workloads equitably across the team.

– Maintain accurate records of room status, maintenance requests, lost and found, and inventory in coordination with the front desk and facilities teams.

– Oversee par levels and ordering of all housekeeping supplies, linens, and amenities; manage vendor relationships and cost controls.

– Partner with the Facilities Manager to report and follow up on maintenance issues identified during room inspections.

– Enforce clear and consistent performance expectations, providing regular feedback, coaching, and documentation as needed.

– Foster a team culture grounded in accountability, respect, and pride in craft—consistent with the Pocketbook Hudson ethos.

– Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation standards, including OSHA guidelines and hotel protocols.

– Assist in interviewing, hiring, and onboarding new housekeeping team members.

– Serve as a visible, hands-on leader who leads by example and steps in to support the team during peak periods.

– Communicate proactively and professionally with the General Manager and cross-departmental leadership.

Experience & Qualifications

– 2–4 years of experience in housekeeping or rooms division, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role; hotel or boutique hospitality experience strongly preferred. – Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop a diverse team in a fast-paced environment.

– Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, schedules, and competing demands simultaneously.

– Familiarity with property management systems and housekeeping software; experience with Rippling or similar platforms a plus.

– Knowledge of safe chemical handling, sanitation standards, and OSHA compliance. – Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. and perform physical tasks as required.

– Flexible schedule including weekend and holiday availability; presence during peak occupancy periods is expected.

– Warm, clear communicator who holds the team to high standards while creating an environment people want to show up for.

– An eye for detail and a genuine pride in delivering an exceptional guest environment.

– Fluent in Spanish is preferred.
