Housekeeping Supervisor / In-Charge
Reports To: Hospital Administrator
Job Purpose:
To ensure a clean, safe, and hygienic environment throughout the hospital by supervising housekeeping staff, implementing infection-control protocols, and maintaining hospital cleanliness standards in compliance with health regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervision & Team Management
· Supervise housekeeping staff, assign daily duties, and ensure timely completion of tasks.
· Prepare duty rosters, manage shifts, and monitor staff attendance and punctuality.
· Provide training and guidance to staff on cleaning techniques, waste disposal, infection control, and use of cleaning equipment/chemicals.
· Evaluate staff performance and recommend disciplinary action or rewards as required.
Operational Responsibilities
· Ensure all patient rooms, wards, OPD areas, operation theatres, ICUs, and public areas are cleaned and maintained as per hospital standards.
· Monitor cleanliness of toilets, waiting areas, corridors, lifts, and staircases throughout the day.
· Check proper segregation, collection, and disposal of hospital waste (including bio-medical waste) in compliance with local regulations.
· Inspect linen management — collection, washing, ironing, and distribution — ensuring hygiene standards are met.
· Ensure timely availability of cleaning materials, disinfectants, and equipment.
Coordination & Reporting
· Liaise with Nursing, Maintenance, and Infection Control teams to maintain cleanliness and address special cleaning needs (e.g., after procedures, spillages, or outbreaks).
· Report equipment breakdowns, shortages of supplies, or staff issues to the Administrator.
· Prepare daily/weekly cleanliness reports and submit to management.
Safety & Compliance
· Ensure compliance with hospital infection-control policies and health & safety standards.
· Monitor safe storage and correct usage of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
· Conduct periodic audits of cleanliness standards in all hospital areas.
· Qualification Requirements:
Skills & Competencies:
· Strong leadership and team management skills.
· Good communication skills (Urdu & basic English).
· Knowledge of infection control, hospital cleaning protocols, and waste management.
· Ability to handle emergencies and make quick decisions.
· Physically fit and able to oversee work in multiple hospital areas.
Education:
Minimum: Intermediate (F.A./F.Sc.)
Experience:
Minimum 3–5 years of supervisory experience in housekeeping (hospital or healthcare environment preferred).
