The Role

As a Houseman, you will be responsible for providing support to the Housekeeping department by ensuring that all guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas are cleaned, well-maintained, and presented to the highest standards. Your role will involve assisting the team with tasks such as room preparation, furniture arrangement, cleaning, and stocking supplies to ensure a seamless guest experience.


Key Areas of Responsibilities

Room Preparation & Maintenance

  • Ensure all guest rooms are set up and cleaned according to resort standards before guest arrival.
  • Assist with the cleaning of guest rooms, including floors, walls, windows, and furniture, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and presentation.
  • Replace or clean any damaged or missing items in guest rooms, including towels, linens, and amenities.
  • Assist with the arrangement and setup of furniture, including bed configuration, placement of items, and ensuring all room facilities are in working order.

Public Area Cleaning & Upkeep

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of public areas, including corridors, stairwells, lobbies, and restrooms.
  • Ensure all high-touch areas are sanitized regularly throughout the day, including door handles, elevators, and seating areas.
  • Report any damage or maintenance issues in public areas or guest rooms to the appropriate department.
  • Perform general cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming in public and service areas.

Stocking & Supply Management

  • Ensure housekeeping supplies such as linen, cleaning chemicals, and guest amenities are properly stocked in designated areas.
  • Restock cleaning carts and ensure they are fully equipped with the necessary tools and supplies.
  • Assist in maintaining inventories of linen, towels, and cleaning supplies, ensuring proper storage and handling to avoid shortages or excess.

Guest Request Assistance

  • Respond promptly to guest requests for additional supplies, such as extra towels, pillows, or toiletries.
  • Deliver guest items such as amenities, extra linens, or other special requests, ensuring timely and courteous service.
  • Maintain a professional, polite, and friendly demeanor while interacting with guests to enhance their experience.

Team Support & Collaboration

  • Assist the Housekeeping team with various tasks, including room cleaning, laundry, and trash removal.
  • Collaborate with the Housekeeping Supervisor to ensure smooth daily operations and address any housekeeping challenges or issues.
  • Ensure the safe use and storage of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
  • Report any safety hazards or maintenance issues to the supervisor or maintenance team.

Health & Safety Compliance

  • Follow all safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and proper cleaning techniques to prevent accidents or contamination.
  • Ensure safe storage and handling of cleaning chemicals and supplies in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations, including proper waste disposal, environmental sustainability practices, and equipment maintenance.

General Maintenance & Reporting

  • Perform light maintenance tasks, including changing light bulbs, fixing minor issues, or reporting any damage or issues to the appropriate department.
  • Report all maintenance problems, damages, or guest complaints to the Housekeeping Supervisor or Maintenance department in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all equipment used is kept clean, maintained, and in good working condition.
