HR Generalist

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead all onboarding activities for the Salt Lake City, UT plant, including pre-screening coordination, orientation facilitation, and serving as a key resource for both new and existing employees.
  • Maintain and update job descriptions and position summaries to ensure accuracy and alignment with organizational needs.
  • Manage employee relations matters, including investigations, disciplinary actions, and performance improvement plans, in collaboration with plant leadership and the HR team.
  • Coordinate recruitment efforts for plant positions, partnering with hiring managers to attract and select top talent.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion, processing, and filing of all new hire documentation, including HRIS entry and payroll coordination for first paycheck accuracy.
  • Administer the E-Verify program and ensure I-9 compliance in accordance with IRCA regulations.
  • Oversee health and welfare benefits administration, including new hire orientations, employee inquiries, issue resolution, status changes, and open enrollment coordination with the insurance broker.
  • Support company wellness initiatives and communicate deduction changes to payroll as needed.
  • Maintain personnel files in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Process employee status changes promptly, ensuring proper approvals and payroll alignment.
  • Develop and deliver training sessions on various HR-related topics.
  • Administer and track all leave of absence requests, including FMLA, disability, and personal leaves, ensuring compliance and proper documentation.
  • Serve as the UKG Pro (UltiPro) subject matter expert for managers and employees, providing guidance on system navigation, time management, and PTO tracking.
  • Assist plant leadership with the annual performance review process, including competency assessments, goal setting, and development planning via UKG Pro.
  • Monitor employee attendance and collaborate with supervisors to address attendance concerns promptly.
  • Coordinate employee engagement events at the Salt Lake City site (e.g., holiday parties, company outings).
  • Represent the company in unemployment claims related to plant employees.
  • Collaborate with the HR team on workers’ compensation claims, including reporting, documentation, and injury/illness recordkeeping.
  • Conduct exit interviews and ensure proper offboarding procedures, including documentation and return of company property.
  • Participate in the review and update of company policies and procedures, escalating complex issues to appropriate leadership.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality in all HR matters.
  • Foster strong collaboration and communication with plant leadership.
  • Model company values and leadership behaviors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Solid understanding of HR principles, employment law, and best practices.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Resourceful, proactive, and solution-oriented mindset.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of full-time experience in a Human Resources role, preferably in a manufacturing or plant operations environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Professional HR certification (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP) strongly preferred.
