Job Description
Job Summary:
The Human Resources Generalist supports the daily operations of the Human Resources department, including recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, payroll support, benefits administration, compliance, and policy enforcement.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Serve as a point of contact for employee relations matters, including receiving concerns and documenting issues; escalating compliance-related matters to HR leadership as appropriate.
- Administer health and welfare benefit plans, including enrollments, changes, and terminations; coordinate with Payroll to ensure accurate deductions and records.
- Provide timely and professional customer service by responding to employee inquiries.
- Act as backup to the Payroll Specialist by supporting payroll processing, auditing timecards, reviewing 401(k) contributions, and maintaining state withholding and unemployment accounts.
- Support performance review cycles by tracking completion and maintaining documentation.
- Assist HR leadership with drafting, updating, formatting, and auditing company policies and procedures.
- Prepare HR-related correspondence and documentation as requested.
- Help coordinate new-hire onboarding
- Support employee engagement initiatives, including recognition programs, cultural initiatives, surveys, holiday planning, and events.
- Perform routine HR administrative tasks, including background checks, drug screenings, personnel file creation, and employee data updates in HRIS systems.
- Partner with HR leadership on complex employee matters, including disciplinary actions and investigations.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws through routine audits (I-9s, personnel files, handbooks, training documentation).
- Track and document completion of mandatory and non-mandatory training programs.
- Assist with recruiting efforts, including candidate pre-screening and coordination throughout the hiring process.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field, required. Experience will be considered in lieu of education.
- At least one year of human resource experience is preferred.

- Working knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to quickly learn HRIS and talent management systems.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer.
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to access and navigate all departments within the organization.
- Regular communication with coworkers, vendors, and third-party providers.
- Ability to adhere to standard operating procedures in a typical office environment.
