HR Generalist

We are looking for a dedicated HR Generalist to join our team in Palatine, Illinois. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a nonprofit environment and is eager to contribute to the development and management of human resources functions. As part of a small but growing organization, you will play a key role in supporting our staff and ensuring smooth HR operations. This is a long-term contract position.

Responsibilities:
• Manage the recruitment process, including sourcing candidates, conducting interviews, and overseeing onboarding and offboarding procedures.
• Maintain accurate and organized personnel files and ensure compliance with HR documentation standards.
• Provide guidance and support for employee relations, including addressing workplace concerns and assisting with performance management.
• Coordinate leave requests, such as medical and bereavement leaves, ensuring adherence to company policies.
• Assist in the implementation and enforcement of HR policies to maintain compliance and foster a positive work environment.
• Collaborate on benefits administration and payroll coordination, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
• Support HRIS functions by managing data entry, reporting, and system updates.
• Use Office tools to create reports, presentations, and documentation for HR-related activities.
• Develop and deliver training programs that enhance staff development and organizational culture.
• Partner with leadership to address strategic HR initiatives and organizational goals.

• Proven experience in HR generalist roles, preferably within nonprofit, behavioral health, education, or social services settings.

• Strong knowledge of employee relations, including conflict resolution and performance management practices.

• Familiarity with recruiting processes, onboarding, and personnel file management.

• Ability to coordinate leave programs and ensure compliance with applicable policies.

• Experience with HRIS systems and proficiency in data management.

• Proficient in using Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Solid understanding of benefits administration/coordination.

• Excellent organizational and communication skills to manage multiple HR functions effectively.
