The North America HR Generalist is an influential leader with strategic thinking abilities who will work closely with the business in Canada and US. The role is full-time and HQ is based in Danbury, CT.
The successful candidate needs to speak English and French fluently while demonstrating a high level of business acumen. S/he must also be comfortable dealing with ambiguity and delivering within a rapidly changing and developing environment. This Generalist needs to demonstrate exceptional work ethic, judgment, discretion, and practicality.
This role requires a hands-on, problem-solving approach to HR operations while also contributing to strategic HR planning.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Will split time supporting Canada and US based team members. As a result, the ideal candidate would be willing to learn both US and Canadian employment laws and must speak English and French fluently.
- Ability to think strategically to develop and implement strategies that meet and exceed company objectives.
- Partner with the business and HR team to design and deliver targeted solutions, including strategic planning, change management and team building.
- Provide consultative advice and support to senior leaders and managers to address complex issues impacting the business, including mitigating risk and managing situations that result in the best possible outcomes for the company and its people.
- Assess talent across the organization. Proactively attract and develop top talent.
- Support business leaders in difficult decision making and serve as a sounding board and confidant.
- Support HR processes including engagement surveys, performance management, succession planning and annual merit cycle.
Talent & Workforce Management:
- Support full-cycle recruitment and onboarding processes, ensuring a seamless candidate and new hire experience.
- Support leadership in workforce planning initiatives.
- Lead recruitment efforts to hire exempt and non-exempt positions.
Employee Relations & Performance Management:
- Oversee the annual BC Performance Management and Talent/Succession Planning Processes, including coaching managers on effective feedback and development plans.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to employees and managers, addressing workplace concerns and providing conflict resolution.
- Conduct investigations related to employee relations matters and recommend appropriate actions.
Compliance & Policy Administration:
- Ensure compliance with federal and provincial employment laws and company policies.
- Develop, update, and implement HR policies and procedures in alignment with company objectives.
- Assist with audits, reporting, and risk mitigation strategies.
Compensation
- In partnership with Head of Total Rewards, support compensation strategy and address compensation issues within assigned client groups.
- Prepare compensation change letters and follow up administration with payroll and records.
KEY RELATIONSHIPS

- Senior Management: Collaborate with senior leaders to align HR strategies with business goals.
- Line Managers: Provide guidance on HR policies, performance management, and employee relations.
- Employees: Work closely with employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
- HR Team: Partner with other HR professionals to develop and implement HR programs and policies.
- Legal Advisors: Consult with legal advisors to ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations.
- Training and Development Providers: Coordinate with training providers to address the development needs of employees.
These relationships help effectively support their organizations and drive strategic HR initiatives.
Requirements:
- HQ in Danbury, CT - preference for on-site work schedule, open to hybrid or remote
- Must be bilingual in English and French
- A minimum of 5+ years in Human Resources, demonstrating a proven track record of growth and achievement in HR.
- Working knowledge of US and Canadian employment laws preferred.
- BS in HR, Communications, Business preferred.

Compensation: $120,000 - $140,000 based on experience
