HR Operations Specialist

The HR Operations Specialist provides operational support across payroll processing, benefits administration, and HR technology systems to ensure continuity of critical HR processes, data accuracy, and regulatory compliance. This role serves as the primary backup for payroll processing, supports benefits administration activities, and assists with monitoring HR systems and coordinating issue resolution with internal stakeholders and external vendors. The position supports the efficient operation of HR processes while maintaining high standards of service and data integrity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Payroll Operations

  • Serve as backup for payroll processing and payroll-related transactions to ensure accurate and timely payroll execution.
  • Assist with payroll audits, reconciliation activities, and payroll-related compliance documentation.
  • Support payroll reporting and validation of payroll data.

Benefits Administration

  • Assist with benefits administration including employee inquiries, enrollment processing, leave administration and system updates.
  • Coordinate with benefits vendors regarding employee benefit issues and data updates.
  • Support open enrollment preparation including system setup, communications, and employee support.
  • Knowledge of leave programs

HR Technology Support

  • Maintain HRIS data accuracy and assist with system configuration updates.
  • Monitor HR systems functionality and coordinate issue resolution with system vendors, IT and internal stakeholders.
  • Assist with HR reporting, system data validation, and troubleshooting system issues.
  • Support system-related operational processes.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform additional duties and support initiatives as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.

Experience

  • 3–5 years of experience supporting payroll processing and benefits administration in an HR or payroll environment.
  • Experience working with HR systems that support payroll and benefits administration (e.g., UKG, Oracle, or similar platforms).
  • Experience managing HR data, system transactions, and issue resolution related to payroll and benefits processes.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Understanding of payroll processes and benefits administration practices.
  • Familiarity with HR systems and HR data management.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
    Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Based on region, the expected salary range(s) for this position is $62,166.22 - $103,610.36.
