About The Role
Boulder County Human Resources (HR) department is seeking to hire a
Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) Specialist
to support offices and departments and serve in a payroll/timekeeping specialist capacity. The HRIS Specialist is a journey-level position that performs complex and specialized work with a considerable degree of independent judgment and decision-making. This position reports to the Payroll Supervisor and completes related work for the entire organization.
Hiring Range: $67,068.00 - $81,834

Examples of Duties

Verifies accuracy of payroll information submitted to Human Resources from county departments and offices

Processes documentation necessary to ensure an accurate paycheck, including HR Action Notices, W4-'s, direct deposit authorization forms and payments, direct credit union deductions and other related documents

Verifies timekeeping accuracy through reports and verifications

Reconciles monthly withholdings of Federal, State and Social Security taxes

Prepares and files benefit payments and reports

Maintains General Ledger payroll accounts with county finance

Processes special payroll checks on an as-needed basis

Processes garnishments and special withholdings, and prepares vouchers to pay withheld funds to companies or agencies requesting the withholding

Provides training in the HRIS system for managers, payroll coordinators and staff

Troubleshoots and resolves timekeeping issues including; HRIS system updates, system maintenance, security checks and licensing

Assists department/office points of contact and employees with timekeeping information and direction

Communicates with departments/offices when changes are made to payroll or timekeeping practices

Creates and updates procedures and work instructions

Performs related work as required

May be reassigned in case of emergency situation

Work Conditions
This is a full-time, benefited position that works primarily remote with an average of one day per month in-office, with onsite options in Lafayette, Longmont, and Boulder. This position will work Monday – Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm, with some flexibility available regarding schedule. Some travel within Boulder County is required. Under FLSA guidelines, this position is non-exempt.
