Part-Time Bookkeeper

Overview

My small but growing firm is in need of an experienced part-time bookkeeper. This role will primarily be work-from-home with the occasional need to travel to clients around the Puget Sound area. Starting hours will range from 5 to 10 hours per week with the possibility of more hours after a probationary period.

Note: Applicants must reside in the general area of King, Snohomish, or Pierce counties in order to travel to clients on occasion.

Responsibilities

• Categorizing income and expense transactions via bank feed for numerous clients in various software platforms - primarily QuickBooks
• Enter client transactions i.e. checks, invoices, AP from paper source documents
• Enter and process accounts payable using correct GL coding
• Reconcile bank and credit card accounts
• Reconcile liability / GL accounts
• Create and post month and year-end closing journal entries
• Process payroll for multiple clients using various software platforms and enter corresponding journal entries
• Light administrative work i.e. responding to email inquiries, help with CRM
• Communication with clients on issues that don't need to be escalated

Requirements

• A thorough understanding of basic accounting principals i.e. debits & credits, balance sheet transactions vs. income statement transactions - a bookkeeping basics test will be given before hire
• Experience using various accounting software platforms
• Experience processing Washington State-based payroll
• Experienced in higher level bookkeeping
• Organizational skills
• Ability to meet deadlines and switch tasks if needed
• Understanding of the ethical principals of bookkeeping
• Ability to follow strict IT protocols
• Ability to pass a background check
