HSE Engineer

We are seeking qualified and experienced professionals to join our reputable Architectural and Engineering Consultancy Firm in the UAE. Candidates must demonstrate strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced project environment.

Responsibilities:

1. Ensure all construction activities comply with the Abu Dhabi Occupational Safety and Health Center (OSHAD) requirements, UAE regulations, and project HSE standards.

2. Review and approve contractors’ HSE plans, risk assessments, method statements, and emergency response plans.

3. Conduct regular site safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with approved HSE procedures.

4. Monitor contractors’ compliance with site safety rules, PPE requirements, and safe work practices.

5. Identify potential hazards and unsafe conditions and ensure corrective actions are implemented promptly.

6. Participate in project safety meetings, toolbox talks, and coordination meetings with contractors and project stakeholders.

7. Review and monitor permit-to-work systems including hot work, confined space entry, lifting operations, and work at height.

8. Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses, prepare reports, and recommend preventive measures.

9. Ensure proper safety arrangements for VIP areas, access control, and public safety within the project site.

10. Monitor high-risk construction activities such as excavation, scaffolding, lifting operations, and structural works.

11. Verify that safety signage, barricades, and emergency equipment are properly installed and maintained.

12. Ensure proper environmental protection measures, including waste management, dust control, and noise mitigation.

13. Review HSE documentation, safety reports, and inspection records submitted by contractors.

14. Ensure contractors conduct regular safety training and toolbox talks for workers and supervisors.

15. Coordinate with client representatives, project managers, and regulatory authorities on HSE matters.

16. Monitor compliance with project-specific HSE requirements for VIP projects, including enhanced safety, security, and quality standards.

17. Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly HSE reports highlighting safety performance, risks, and corrective actions.

18. Ensure all works comply with international HSE standards such as International Organization for Standardization ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems.

General Requirements & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field.
• Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, or ISO 45001 are highly preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in HSE roles within the construction/consultancy or related industries in the UAE or GCC.
• Experience in auditing, incident investigation, and preparing QHSE documentation.
• Familiarity with risk assessment methodologies and emergency response planning.
