Roles of HSE Engineer/Officer

• Ensure workplace compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Develop, implement, and monitor HSE policies, procedures, and programs.
• Promote a strong safety culture and environmental awareness within the organization.
• Act as the point of contact for regulatory authorities and internal stakeholders regarding HSE matters.

Key Responsibilities

1. Policy & Compliance

• Implement and enforce HSE policies, standards, and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with local labor laws, international safety standards, and environmental regulations.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legal requirements and industry best practices.

2. Risk Assessment & Inspections

• Conduct regular risk assessments, hazard identifications, and workplace inspections.
• Recommend preventive and corrective measures to reduce risks.
• Monitor site conditions and ensure safety measures are in place before starting work.

3. Incident & Emergency Management

• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses; prepare reports with root cause analysis.
• Develop and test emergency response plans.
• Ensure immediate corrective actions are taken to prevent recurrence.

4. Training & Awareness

• Deliver HSE inductions, toolbox talks, and training sessions to employees and contractors.
• Raise awareness of safe work practices and environmental conservation.
• Promote a culture of accountability and safety ownership.

5. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain HSE records including incident logs, inspection reports, and safety audits.
• Prepare and submit HSE performance reports to management.
• Ensure proper documentation of PPE usage, permits-to-work, and compliance records.

6. Environmental Protection

• Monitor waste management, pollution control, and energy-saving initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with environmental impact assessments and sustainability goals.

7. Coordination & Leadership

• Liaise with project managers, supervisors, and contractors to ensure HSE requirements are met.
• Support management in implementing continuous improvement in health, safety, and environment systems.
