Key Responsibilities
Inspection & Verification (Core Focus):
- Routine Inspections: Conduct systematic and frequent walk-throughs to verify that physical site conditions, general housekeeping, access points, and barricades meet safety standards.
- Equipment Checks: Perform routine, documented inspections on tools, machinery, fire equipment, and critical safety installations such as power distribution boards and grounding systems.
- Working at Height: Scrutinize all temporary works including scaffolding, mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs), and tower crane operations, ensuring secure tagging and proper installation according to standards.
- PPE Compliance: Monitor all personnel to ensure 100% compliance with mandatory Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements and job-specific safety gear.
Reporting & Documentation:
- Checklist Management: Complete all daily, weekly, and pre-task safety checklists accurately and meticulously, flagging any immediate deficiencies.
- Hazard Reporting: Document all identified hazards and unsafe acts using photographic evidence and detailed written reports, and report them instantly to the HSE Officer for immediate corrective action.
- Log Maintenance: Maintain accurate logs of safety deficiencies, equipment status (e.g., lifting gear certificates), and follow-up on corrective actions until closure.
Compliance Support & Execution:
- Assist the HSE Officer in verifying the conditions stipulated in the Permit-to-Work (PTW) system are in place before high-risk work commences.
- Support the site team in conducting pre-task briefings (TBTs) by highlighting site-specific hazards identified during inspections.
- Ensure proper storage, labeling, and handling of hazardous materials and monitor waste segregation in accordance with environmental protocols.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Education: High School Diploma plus a relevant technical or safety certification is required.
- Mandatory Certification: NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) or IOSH Managing Safely is essential.
- Experience: Minimum 2 to 4 years of proven, hands-on experience as an HSE Inspector, Safety Supervisor, or Foreman with dedicated safety duties on large-scale construction sites in the UAE/GCC.
- Technical Expertise: Strong practical knowledge of site hazards related to civil works, including scaffolding inspection, basic lifting plan verification, fire safety, and lock-out/tag-out procedures.
- Local Knowledge: Practical experience dealing with site-level requirements of UAE regulatory bodies (e.g., Civil Defense, Municipality).
- Skills: Excellent ability to communicate safety requirements clearly to site workers (fluency in English and working knowledge of Hindi/Urdu is highly desirable), strong physical fitness for extensive site touring, and a non-compromising attitude towards safety standards.
