Position Overview:

As a member of the Etihad Rail Mobility Passenger Operations HSEQ Department you will be responsible for ensuring the provision, maintenance, implementation, and compliance with OHS standards within the Rail Passenger Operations Departments, you will protect the company’s people, assets, safety certification and enforce ERM legal OHS responsibilities. You will ensure compliance with our defined OHS objectives, standards and safety performance and business plan targets through programs that inform, educate and support a culture of ‘safety first’ in everything that the company does.


Roles and Responsibility:

  • Develop, implement, maintain, review and continually improve the application within the ERM Infrastructure department, of the company OHSAS 45001 Health & Safety Management System.
  • Ensure the company’s OHS Policy is fully implemented to meet the continued needs of the business.
  • Develop, implement and monitor leading and lagging safety Key Performance Indicators and provide professional services to the Rail Passenger Operations & Maintenance Director for the achievement of defined objectives and continual improvement in OHS performance
  • As a Team member, describe and implement health, safety improvement programmes to anticipate and manage health, safety risks based on the company’s risk profile. Ensure OHS risks arising from ERM activities and processes are managed in a controlled manner, as a minimum to ALARP and where practicable to SOFARP.
  • Develop and deliver the company annual OHS plan within a defined timescale.
  • Organize and carry out safety inspections and audits to meet legislative and safety management system requirements.
  • Support the Mobility Passenger Operations departments to develop emergency and incident response and ensure these plans are established, implemented, maintained and reviewed.
  • Ensure a safety-first culture exists at all levels within the business through education and awareness / measurement and the audit plan to drive rail safety and environmental performance to the highest standards. (i.e. accidents/incidents and personal injuries).
  • Ensure that the Chief Executive Officer, Mobility Passenger Operations function maintains the competence of safety critical personnel through implementation and application of the company competence management system.
  • Establish OHS standards and procedures against industry best practice and ensure compliance with them.
  • Ensure maintenance related incidents are investigated for the purpose of identifying root cause and monitoring implementation of rectification plans.


Academic Qualifications:

  • Educated to a high standard with academic safety achievements up to NEBOSH level or equivalent.
  • OHSAS45001 internal auditor certifications desirable.

  • Excellent communication skills are necessary in all forms, written, verbal, personality, persuasion, trust and integrity. Able to speak publicly and present in a professional manner.
  • Able to manage cultural diversity in the workplace and recognize the sensitivities between different cultures.
  • Adaptability and resilience to work in a harsh environment with most of the time being employed in desert locations.
  • Excellent English language skill with more than one language. Arabic a preference as a second language.
  • Be a role model for the values that the company embodies.
