Job Summary
The HSE Officer will be responsible for ensuring fire prevention, emergency response, and occupational health & safety compliance at the workplace. The role involves active firefighting duties, emergency preparedness, fire watch, safety inspections, and support to HSE operations to maintain a safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond immediately to fire, rescue, medical, and other emergency situations
- Perform firefighting operations using fire extinguishers, hoses, hydrants, fire pumps, and SCBA
- Carry out rescue operations in confined spaces, heights, and hazardous areas
- Participate in emergency drills, mock exercises, and evacuation procedures
- Maintain readiness for emergencies through regular training and drills
- Conduct fire watch duties during hot work operations (welding, cutting, grinding)
- Identify potential fire hazards and recommend corrective actions
- Ensure proper storage and handling of flammable and combustible materials
- Monitor work areas to prevent ignition sources and unsafe conditions
- Ensure compliance with HSE policies, procedures, and site safety rules
- Monitor use of PPE and enforce safe work practices
- Support Permit to Work (PTW) activities such as hot work, confined space, and working at height
- Report unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and near-miss incidents
- Inspect and maintain firefighting equipment including extinguishers, hoses, hydrants, alarms, and SCBA
- Ensure fire protection systems are operational and properly maintained
- Keep records of inspections, tests, and maintenance activities
- Assist in delivering safety inductions, toolbox talks, and fire safety awareness sessions
- Educate workers on emergency procedures, fire prevention, and safe behavior
- Guide employees during evacuation and emergency situations
- Maintain firefighting and safety records
- Assist in investigations and implementation of corrective and preventive actions
Job Requirements
- Minimum Intermediate and 2-3 years of experience as Firefighter.
- Firefighter Course Level I & Level II – Mandatory
- Strong firefighting and emergency response skills
- Knowledge of fire prevention systems and safety procedures
- Ability to work under pressure and in emergency situations
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Physically fit and medically cleared for firefighting duties
Working Conditions
