HSEQ / QHSE Officer

Key Responsibilities: Health, Safety & Environment (HSE):

• Ensure full compliance with shipyard safety standards and UAE HSE regulations
• Conduct risk assessments, job safety analysis (JSA), and permit-to-work audits
• Monitor high-risk marine activities such as:
• Hot work (welding, cutting)
• Working at height
• Confined space entry
• Lifting operations
• Conduct toolbox talks and safety inductions for marine workforce
• Investigate incidents and implement corrective/preventive actions
• Ensure proper usage of PPE and marine safety equipment

Quality Control (QC):

• Inspect ship repair/refit works including:
• Hull repairs & structural works
• Marine painting & surface preparation
• Mechanical (engines, pumps, piping)
• Electrical & HVAC systems
• Ensure all work complies with:
• Project specifications
• Class/flag requirements
• Marine quality standards
• Prepare and maintain ITPs (Inspection Test Plans), QC reports, and checklists
• Coordinate with clients, surveyors, and project teams for inspections
• Identify defects and ensure timely rectification

Documentation & Compliance:

• Maintain HSE and QC documentation as per audit requirements
• Prepare daily/weekly reports for management
• Support internal, client, and third-party audits
• Ensure compliance with ISO standards (ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001)

Requirements:

• Diploma/Bachelor’s in Engineering / Safety / Marine or related field
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in Ship Repair / Shipyard / Marine Refit projects (MANDATORY)
• NEBOSH / IOSH certification (preferred)
• Strong knowledge of marine safety practices and QC procedures
• Experience working in dry dock, floating dock, or afloat repair projects
• Familiarity with class societies (DNV, ABS, Lloyd’s Register) is an advantage
• Good communication and reporting skills
