Position Summary

The Human Resources Generalist is a key member of Guardian Angel’s Operations team. This role is responsible for administering and supporting the agency’s human resources functions, including recruitment, onboarding and offboarding, employee relations, compliance, HR reporting, payroll support, and employee engagement.

The HR Generalist partners with leadership to ensure HR systems are efficient, compliant, and aligned with Guardian Angel’s mission and organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment & Workforce Planning

  • Coordinate job postings and recruitment strategies

  • Prescreen applicants, schedule and facilitate interviews

  • Maintain timely candidate communications

  • Deliver informed hiring recommendations

  • Process employment verifications and background checks confidentially

Onboarding & Employee Lifecycle

  • Coordinate new hire onboarding, orientation, and payroll setup

  • Ensure completion and compliance of I-9, W-4, FCSR, benefits forms, and required acknowledgements

  • Process employee changes, resignations, terminations, and leaves

  • Maintain accurate and confidential personnel files

  • Conduct exit interviews and track turnover trends

  • Coordinate 30-day employee check-ins and follow-up actions

Compliance & Reporting

  • Conduct regular audits of employee files and I-9 documentation

  • Ensure compliance with EEO, ADA, FMLA, and other employment regulations

  • Maintain HRIS and applicant tracking systems

  • Track and report monthly workforce metrics (hiring, turnover, training, compliance)

  • Prepare HR reports for leadership and board review

  • Maintain accurate employee rosters

Employee Relations & Engagement

  • Provide HR guidance and support to supervisors and employees

  • Support performance management and corrective action documentation

  • Assist with benefits administration and enrollment

  • Draft and distribute internal HR communications

  • Develop staff surveys and engagement initiatives

  • Support employee recognition, morale, and retention programs

  • Assist with agency-wide meetings, trainings, and events

  • Serve as liaison in establishing and leading an employee board

Payroll Support

  • Assist in processing bi-weekly payroll

  • Serve as designated payroll backup as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (preferred)

  • 3–5 years of HR experience, including recruiting and employee relations

  • Knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices

  • Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills

  • Experience with HRIS, payroll, and applicant tracking systems (Paycor, Salesforce, or similar)

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Asana

  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion

  • Nonprofit or human services experience preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Lifting up to 25 pounds

  • Sitting and working at a computer for extended periods
