DEFINITIONUnder general direction, performs a variety of specialized clerical and technical administrative duties in support of Human Resources; composes and prepares correspondence using considerable judgment in content and style; performs skilled word processing; performs data entry; prepares materials and documents for meetings, interviews and training; prepares technical reports; maintains filing systems and records; processes documents and invoices; answers telephone and provides counter reception; provides information to the public; and performs related duties as assigned.DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICSThe Human Resources Assistant is a journey-level class. The incumbent performs the full range of general to specialized administrative support duties and responsibilities. The Human Resources Assistant works independently, exercising initiative and judgment, and is subject to minimal work direction and instruction. Under general supervision, the incumbent typically performs specialized administrative support duties for management and analytical staff, and is assigned special projects involving a variety of highly responsible clerical or administrative tasks which requires strong organizational skills.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Duties may include, but are not limited to the following: Performs a wide variety of confidential and sensitive administrative work for Human Resources; drafts memorandums; prepares agendas and informational packets; schedules and sets up meeting, interview and training rooms; takes and transcribes meeting minutes.Assists in recruitment planning and activities; prepares job announcement bulletins and brochures; arranges for and schedules oral interviews and interview panels; prepares interview binders; organizes and schedules test times, sites and proctors; coordinates and prepares materials for job fairs and career days.Reviews, processes, tracks and provides sensitive and detailed technical reports, records, files and forms associated with Human Resources policies and procedures; prepares related reports and queries for Human Resources.Assists Human Resources staff in researching, compiling and developing information for projects, studies, contracts and reports from a variety of resources; interprets Human Resource policies on routine administrative matters and explains procedures to others.Performs various basic accounting/bookkeeping work; verifies or computes financial data; reviews and verifies billing invoices; reconciles P-Card purchases.Performs clerical and administrative work as required; copies documents; maintains a variety of Human Resource filing systems including filing and retrieving files; reviews and processes mail; faxs document; serves as a receptionist at the front counter; maintains calendars; maintains inventory of supplies and materials.Prepares and assembles binders, pamphlets, information packets and other materials for a variety of Human Resources programs; compiles, copies and distributes information/document packets ensuring completeness and accuracy of contents.Communicates with Court officials and staff of other internal divisions and external agencies to obtain and relay information and to coordinate activities.Provides a high level of customer service to both external and internal customers; provides information to Court staff, other organizations and the public, requiring the use of judgment and the interpretation of complex policies, rules, procedures and ordinances. Performs special projects as requested by management.Performs related duties as assigned.
