Human Resources Assistant

Position Summary:

The Human Resources Assistant provides administrative and clerical support to the HR department. This role helps with employee recordkeeping, onboarding, recruitment coordination, payroll preparation, timekeeping accuracy, and employee communication. The HR Assistant serves as a helpful point of contact for employees and supports the smooth day-to-day operation of the HR function.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with job postings, resume screening, and scheduling interviews
  • Help onboard new employees by preparing new hire paperwork, verifying I-9 documents, and coordinating training with relevant departments
  • Maintain employee personnel files and digital HR records
  • Monitor timekeeping systems for errors, missed punches, or attendance issues; report discrepancies to HR Director or supervisors
  • Review timecards and assist with payroll preparation
  • Assist with benefits administration, including benefit billing and related documentation
  • Monitor and track employee time-off requests and maintain accurate records
  • Track and ensure completion of employee performance reviews
  • Respond to routine employee questions about payroll, benefits, or HR policies
  • Help track and organize documentation
  • Help prepare reports and spreadsheets as needed for HR projects
  • Assist in planning employee recognition events and HR communications
  • Maintain a professional and engaging presence on company social media platforms as needed

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; experience in HR or administrative duties preferred but not required
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Comfortable with confidentiality and handling sensitive employee information
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with payroll or HRIS systems a plus
