Human Resources Coordinator

LOCATION: Troy, MI

GENERAL PURPOSE:

Butzel is seeking a full-time, non-exempt Human Resources Coordinator for its Troy office. This position will assist with the day-to-day execution of key Human Resources (HR) functions by taking ownership of a wide range of administrative processes and procedures. In addition, the Coordinator will support the HR team in various functional areas, including employee engagement, employee retention, performance management, and onboarding. This position reports to the Director of Human Resources and will work closely with Firm personnel and leadership.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee files, records, and HR spreadsheets and databases to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Assist with the development and administration of HR programs including training, procedures, and guidelines to align the workforce with the Firm’s strategic goals.
  • Facilitate new hire onboarding, including orientation scheduling, preparing new hire and benefit packets, paperwork processing, and coordination with IT for workstation setup.
  • Participate in the development and administration of performance management and evaluation activities.
  • Assist with Wellness and Human Resources programs.
  • Assist with recruiting and staffing efforts.
  • Attend meetings and Firm events as requested to represent the Human Resources department.
  • Support HR team members by facilitating processes and completing assignments accurately and on time.
  • Assist with departmental projects including charitable activities and other HR activities as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of HR practices and basic employment law helpful.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, HRIS technologies and Internet skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to forge and build positive professional relationships.
  • Analytical ability for solving problems with midlevel complexity.
  • High level of interpersonal and organizational skills; collaborative team spirit.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in high-pressure situations.
  • Excellent follow-up skills, attention to details and high level of accuracy and confidentiality.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND/OR TRAINING:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2 years’ general human resources and/or recruiting experience required, preferably within a professional services environment.
