The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for administering and enforcing company policies and practices, as well as the daily functions of Kleberg Bank’s human resources-related activities to include the following functional areas: employment process, employee relations, training, affirmative action, and employment equity programs.

Essential Duties:

Recruit, prescreen, and facilitate the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborate with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.

Develop and maintain relationships with employment agencies, universities, and other recruitment sources.

Coordinate the resolution of specific policy-related and procedural problems and inquiries including employee disciplinary meetings, investigations and terminations.

Administer and maintain job description database and performance appraisal systems.

Co-lead new hire onboarding.

Administer, explain, and consult in the benefits recommendations to Leadership. Serve as liaison between employees and insurance third-party administrator.

Recommend updates to Employee Handbook including Bank policies, procedures, and documentation.

Recommend, develop and maintain human resource databases, computer software systems, and manual filing systems.

Provide key indicator reporting - including turnover, number of open positions, time-to-fill, average tenure, and other ratios - to Leadership on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.

Keep records of benefits plans participation such as insurance and 401K plan, personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, and terminations, and employee statistics for government reporting.

Maintain required local, state, federal and departmental records, postings and reports including I-9, VETS100, EEO, FMLA, Affirmative Action, and OSHA record keeping.

Participate in unemployment insurance claims and appeals as necessary.

Coordinate Worker's Compensation concerns as necessary.

Coordinate Drug Screenings as needed.

Complete salary survey questionnaires.

Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.

Supervisory Responsibility:
The HR Generalist provides Bank management with direction and counseling in HR related matters.
Work Environment:
This job role operates from the Bank’s Corpus Christi headquarters. It is a professional environment. This role routinely involves use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Travel:
Limited travel (5-10% percent of the time) within the Bank’s service area as needed for this position. Must hold a valid driver's license and maintain a safe driving record.
Required Education and Experience:

High school diploma or GED.

PHR or SHRM-CP designation is preferred but not required.

Experience with HRIS systems.

Knowledge of payroll and payroll systems.

Three to five years related experience and/or training in field and supervisory experience.
Preferred Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in human resources or business.

PHR or SHRM-CP designation is preferred but not required.

SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential.

Experience administering employee benefits, including health, welfare and 401(k).

Experience with payroll and payroll systems.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
Strong managerial and communication skills with ability to interface with internal and external customers, and senior management, leadership and planning skills, must be flexible and adaptable to business demands. Display independent judgment and initiative. Problem solving and decision-making skills, excellent internal customer service and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, organization and time management skills, and computer proficiency required.
