Human Resources Generalist

Full Time, 1.0 FTE, 80 hours per pay period
Position will have a large scope of recruitment in daily responsibilities.
Hours: Monday through Friday 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. Must be flexible for occasional meetings/assignments outside of standard business hours, may include occasional weekends.

The Human Resource Generalist will support many processes of the Human Resource (HR) department including but not limited to; championing the recruitment process for hiring and interviewing staff, creating talent pipeline development opportunities and processes, supporting our orientation process, supporting and facilitating employee engagement events.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Participates in Continuous Systems Improvement training, efforts and team collaboration
  • Recruits, schedules interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Sources and develops relationships with internal stakeholders, organizations and community members to provide recruitment opportunities
  • Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Implements new hire orientation
  • Participates, champions, occasionally leads employee engagement and recognition programs.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Seeking or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required, or equivalent HR experience
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Curious and comfortable using/optimizing HR related software

Physical Demands:

Sedentary Work
Work activities that require lifting of objects up to 10-20# on rare to occasional basis. Sedentary work generally involves sitting most of the time, but may also involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Roles are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Physical Requirements:

  • May complete computer work activities for the majority of the day with work tasks that require occasional standing to retrieve items from the other work spaces or use office equipment.
  • May assume reaching in vertical height within 20-35” on a regular basis and occasionally at 6-18” or at 40-60” when retrieving items from storage. May bend from sitting or standing position to retrieve items from lower storage. Reaching in the front and to the side most often.
  • May use both hands to with simple grasping and pinch grasping to operate office equipment at desk heights. May require light grip or pinch force with activities.
  • May handling office supplies that weigh less than 10# frequently such as reams of paper and rarely up to 15-20#

A fast-paced human resources environment with frequent interactions with applicants, employees, managers, administration and outside representatives.
