JOB DESCRIPTION

HUMAN RESOURCES GENERALIST

The Human Resources Generalist provides comprehensive HR support to management and employees across all areas of human resources. This role is responsible for managing day-to-day HR functions including employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, training administration, and HR compliance. The HR Generalist ensures consistency in HR processes and promotes a positive and engaging work environment.

JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor employee attendance in accordance with the company attendance policy.
  • Assist with employee corrective actions and write-ups, ensuring alignment with the employee handbook and company policies.
  • Conduct employee investigations as needed to address complaints or workplace issues in a fair and timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate job postings, review and screen applicants, conduct phone interviews, and schedule in-person interviews or drive tests.
  • Initiate pre-employment processes including background checks, drug screens, and verification of required documentation (I-9s, DOT Medical, FMCSA verification, DMV history/pull notice, etc.).
  • Conduct Day 1 onboarding and assist with safety orientation as needed.
  • Administer and track employee training through the California Employee Training Program (ETP).
  • Process pay adjustments, promotions, and anniversary increases through the HRIS system.
  • Plan and coordinate employee events, fundraisers, and recognition programs including birthdays, anniversaries, and company celebrations.
  • Coordinate termination processes, ensuring compliance with California laws regarding final pay, documentation, and legal requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERTISE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of progressive HR experience; generalist or similar HR support role strongly preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of California employment laws and HR compliance.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in HRIS system and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
