Purpose: The Human Resource Generalist will assist with the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, conducting onboarding, and enforcing company policies and practices.
Basic Task List/Essential Functions:

Plan, direct, and guide all activities and employees relating to the administration and maintenance of policy and employee benefit programs assigned.

Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.

Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.

Assist in the daily administration of other HR services as directed or assigned, including but not limited to affirmative action/EEO compliance, job classification, performance evaluation, job descriptions, and employee relations in accordance with quality management principles and overall objectives of the organization.

Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.

Assists recruitment coordinator and human resources director with new hire orientation and employee recognition programs

Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.

Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.

Interpret appropriate laws and policies and advise management, employees, and retirees accordingly.

Participate in the investigation and resolution of ongoing employee relations problems, anticipate problems whenever possible, and develop, recommend, and initiate appropriate steps for resolution.

Work collaboratively with all directors/coordinators in all aspects of work and services.

Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.

Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.

Supervise/Administer confidentiality requirements relating to all areas assigned with specific attention to personnel, wages, payroll, consumer information, health information and other areas that may occur.
- Assist in employee file creation and maintenance. Keep employee files current and filing complete in a timely manner.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITON:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business or another like field preferred
- At least 2 years’ experience in human resource management
- SHRM Certification a plus
Knowledge Required:- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn application of Human Resource Management, to include Affirmative Action Plan management.
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn CARF, DOL, FLSA, and other applicable regulations and laws.
- Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Application Software and Windows Operating System.

Legal Requirements:
- Must be knowledgeable and/or willing to devote time and effort needed in learning laws and regulations governing functions of the jobs assigned.
- Must maintain absolute confidentiality of financial and personnel information
- Must limit access to all accounts to those administratively approved as “need to know.”
Physical Requirements- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 20 pounds at times.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.

- Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable to occasionally drive WRC vehicles.
- Must be willing to travel up to 10% to assist with HR functions for Federal Contracts.
