Job Responsibilities

The Human Resources Generalist will provide human resources support for a designated department, assisting with recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, and compliance activities. This position will report to the Associate Vice President for Human Resources and will serve as a liaison between the department and the HR office to ensure consistent application of policies, timely resolution of HR issues, and effective communication across all levels of the organization. This position will collaborate with program managers, employees and Trident Technical College Human Resources team to promote a positive work environment and ensure alignment with institutional goals and HR best practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and manage human resource functions with a focus on compliance, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Provide guidance and support in areas such as recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, employee relations, classification and compensation and performance management.
  • Interpret and apply federal and state laws, regulations, and institutional policies governing human resources practices.
  • Demonstrate independent decision-making while collaborating with the TTC HR team to ensure consistency, fairness, and adherence to established procedures.
  • Conduct and facilitate program New Employee Orientation and assist with onboarding processes to ensure a positive employee experience.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with applicable laws and standards.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, and external partners.
  • Analyze complex situations, exercise sound judgment, and make recommendations and/or decisions within delegated authority.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in an ever-changing environment.
  • Support HR projects, audits, and process improvements to enhance operational integrity and organizational effectiveness.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

This position requires high school diploma and relevant human resources experience. Preferred candidate will have an associate degree plus two (2) years relevant human resources experience: or a bachelor’s degree and relevant human resources experience, or high school diploma plus four (4) years relevant human resources experience.

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of human resources management.
  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply federal and state laws, regulations, policies, and practices governing human resources.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, and external partners.
  • Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in analyzing situations and making recommendations and/or decisions within delegated authority.
  • Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated compliance awareness and appreciation for HR and operational integrity.
  • Strong knowledge of HR laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining collaboration within a team environment.
  • Experience coordinating and managing human resources functions in a government or manufacturing/production setting.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule to provide HR support for first and second shift operations as required.
