The Human Resources Generalist supports the daily operations of the HR department, including recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, payroll processing, leave management, and compliance. This role partners closely with employees, managers, and leadership to foster a positive employee experience and ensure consistent application of company policies and HR best practices. This is a temporary assignment expected to last approximately 6–8 months.


Responsibilities:

  • Reviews, tracks, and ensures compliance with mandatory and voluntary training requirements, including safety training, onboarding, anti-harassment, and professional certifications.
  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified candidates; manages job postings, screens applications, and collaborates with hiring managers to identify required skills and competencies.
  • Conducts or coordinates background checks and employment eligibility verifications.
  • Processes payroll for employees and the temporary/flex workforce; ensures accuracy and compliance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Organizes and participates in benefits orientation sessions, manages benefit enrollments and changes with carriers, and answers benefit-related questions throughout the year.
  • Reviews, processes, and tracks all leaves of absence, including FMLA, ADA, and short-term disability; maintains accurate and timely documentation.
  • Manages workers’ compensation claims by reporting workplace injuries, maintaining documentation, coordinating with the insurance carrier, and supporting return-to-work processes; partners with supervisors to ensure timely and accurate incident reporting.
  • Prepares routine and ad hoc reports and maintains accurate employee records within Paylocity and other HR systems.
  • Facilitates new hire orientation and implements employee recognition programs.
  • Supports the administration of HR programs, including compensation and benefits, performance management, disciplinary matters, investigations, training and development, employee morale, and safety initiatives.
  • Serves as a resource for employees and supervisors regarding HR policies, procedures, and employee relations matters; escalates complex or sensitive issues as appropriate.
  • Participate in employee disciplinary meetings, investigations, and terminations.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations; recommends updates to policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Stays informed of HR trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources and talent management.
  • Coordinates logistics for company meetings and employee events, including meals and other related arrangements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; equivalent years of HR experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • 2- 5 years of human resources experience required.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in Human Resources in a manufacturing environment.
  • SHRM certification is a plus.
  • Ability to manage full-cycle recruitment, including job posting, candidate screening, interview coordination, and selection processes.
  • Strong working knowledge of federal and state employment laws, including FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EEO, I-9, and OSHA requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to process payroll accurately and maintain confidentiality of payroll and personnel data.
  • Experience administering employee benefits, including enrollments, life event changes, and open enrollment activities.
  • Ability to effectively manage and track leaves of absence and disability claims, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to manage sensitive employee relations matters with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with HRIS platforms (Paylocity preferred), including data entry, reporting, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, including the ability to interpret HR metrics and identify trends or opportunities for improvement.
  • Ability to coach supervisors on HR processes, policies, and performance management best practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate departments throughout the facility.
  • Non-Temperature controlled manufacturing environment: heat or cold depending on season. Work areas are provided with fans to circulate air and hydration station.
