Human Resources Generalist

The Part-Time Human Resources Generalist supports the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department by assisting with employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, payroll processing, benefits administration, and HR compliance. This role serves as a resource for employees and managers while helping ensure company policies and employment practices remain compliant with federal and state regulations.

This position is ideal for an experienced HR professional seeking a flexible, part-time role while contributing to a collaborative and service-focused team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Payroll Administration

  • Process bi-weekly payroll for multiple employee groups, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
  • Maintain employee payroll records and update employee information in the HRIS system.
  • Process payroll changes include new hires, terminations, pay adjustments, and deductions.
  • Coordinate with the payroll provider to resolve payroll discrepancies or employee inquiries.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour regulations.
  • Maintain payroll documentation and assist with payroll reporting when needed.

HR Administration & Compliance

  • Maintain employee records and HR documentation within the HRIS system.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Support HR reporting requirements such as EEO reporting, OSHA logs, and other compliance documentation.
  • Assist with HR audits, policy updates, and internal documentation.

Recruiting & Onboarding

  • Coordinate recruitment activities including job postings, resume screening, interview scheduling, and candidate communication.
  • Facilitate onboarding processes including new hire paperwork and HR system setup.
  • Partner with managers to ensure smooth onboarding experience for new employees.

Employee Relations

  • Serve as a point of contact for employee questions regarding HR policies, procedures, and workplace matters.
  • Assist in addressing employee concerns and support investigations when necessary.
  • Help maintain positive employee relations and promote a respectable and productive workplace.

Benefits & Leave Administration

  • Assist employees with questions related to benefits programs and enrollment.
  • Support benefits administration including open enrollment preparation and documentation.
  • Assist with leave of absence requests and tracking.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • 2–4 years of Human Resources experience, preferably in a generalist role.
  • Experience processing payroll preferred.
  • Knowledge of California employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with HRIS systems (experience with isolved is a plus).
  • Bilingual Spanish is a plus.

Work Schedule

  • Part-time position (20–25 hours per week)
