Human Resources Generalist

The Human Resources Generalist provides expert advice and support to businesses on all aspects of human resource management, including recruitment, training, employee relations, performance management, and compliance with employment laws.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operational Excellence

  • Support community accountability to standard Human Resources process and order of operations, such as payroll, Workday transactions, self-service, recruitment, etc.
  • Continuously improve standard metrics, such as turnover, Workers Compensation claims management, employee engagement score, unemployment claims management, employee litigation, data integrity audits.
  • Ensure compliance requirements are met through strong record keeping processes, including meeting requirements for annual surveys, complaint surveys, state inspections, mock surveys, etc.
  • Assist in conducting exit interviews and processing employee separations.
  • Assist in payroll administration, including maintaining accurate employee records for payroll purposes.
  • Maintain HR files and ensure confidentiality and accuracy of employee information.
  • Support new employee onboarding by organizing/facilitating orientation sessions, collecting necessary paperwork, and coordinating with relevant departments.
  • Identify HR challenges, analyze situations, and propose solutions to address specific issues within a community.
  • Manage employee relation cases from start to finish.

Employee Voice

  • Reduce employee relations issues by cultivating a positive work environment, with excellent leaders, which enables an engaged employee experience.
  • Improve employee engagement, as evidenced by reduction in employee relations issues / complaints and an increase in engagement score.
  • Coordinate employee recognition programs and events to foster a positive work culture.
  • Manage employee inquiries regarding HR policies and procedures.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Required Degree: N/A
  • Preferred Degree: Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field.
  • Preferred Certificate(s): Associate Professional in Human Resources (aPHR), Professional in Human Resources (PHR), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR)
  • Experience:
    • 2+ years of professional-level experience in human resources.
    • Deep understanding of HR policies and procedures
    • Ability to manage employee relation cases.
    • Project management within an HR context

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Regular, predictable attendance is required.
  • Sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office/community setting.
  • Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to operate various equipment based on department and weather conditions.
  • Engaging in repetitive movements of wrists, hands, and fingers - typing and/or writing.
  • Clarity of Vision:
    • For near visual acuity Clarity of vision at approximately 20 inches or less (i.e., working with small objects or reading small print), including use of computers.
    • For far visual acuity, Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more. This is not just the ability to see a person or object, but the ability to recognize features as well.
    • For peripheral vision, observing an area that can be seen up and down or to right or left while eyes are fixed on a given point.

Compensation Pay Range:

$28.35 - $35.47 per hour

Reasonable Pay Estimate

A reasonable estimate of the pay range for this position is $28.35 - $35.47 per hour. There are numerous factors taken into consideration in determining the actual offered rate of pay, including but not limited to: job-related qualifications, experience, skills, education, geographic location, and consideration of internal and external equity.
