Human Resources Generalist (2026-38)
Overview
The American Arbitration Association (AAA), the leading provider of alternative dispute resolution services, is seeking a skilled and motivated Human Resources Generalist to join our team. The HR Generalist supports employees and management across a wide range of HR functions, with a strong emphasis on administering employee leave programs in a multi-state environment and managing complex employee relations matters. This position partners closely with leadership on performance management, workplace investigations, and policy interpretation across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring consistent application of employment laws and internal policies. The HR Generalist also supports full-cycle recruiting, delivers training initiatives, manages HR systems, and analyzes workforce data to inform recommendations to leadership.
Work Environment
This position is located at AAA Headquarters in Downtown Manhattan and offers a hybrid work arrangement. Candidates must reside within 125 miles of their work location.
Compensation
New York, NY: $99,000 – $105,000
This position is also eligible for an annual performance-based incentive targeting 10% of base pay.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Psychology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

PHR or SHRM-CP certification required

4–6 years of progressive Human Resources experience

Demonstrated experience administering employee leave programs (e.g., FMLA, state and local leave laws, disability) across multiple states

Strong background in managing employee relations matters, including investigations, performance management, and conflict resolution

In-depth knowledge of employment laws and compliance requirements in a multi-state environment

Proven ability to coach and advise managers on complex and sensitive workplace issues

Experience with HRIS platforms such as ADP and Workday

Experience using workforce data to inform recommendations to leadership

Strong organizational and problem-solving skills

High level of discretion and ability to handle confidential information
