Location: Portsmouth, NH - WSL is located steps from Portsmouth's Market Square and Prescott Park, behind the Strawbery Banke Museum

Salary Range: 60-65k

As the Human Resources Generalist, your responsibilities will include a few of the following key points:

Recruiting & Onboarding

  • Partner with hiring managers to identify staffing needs and manage full-cycle recruitment
  • Source, screen, interview, and coordinate hiring of candidates using ATS and community outreach
  • Prepare and extend job offers; manage background checks and pre-employment requirements
  • Coordinate and facilitate new-hire onboarding and orientation for employees and volunteers
  • Maintain accurate recruitment and onboarding records and metrics

Employee Relations & Support

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employee inquiries and HR support
  • Assist with employee relations matters, escalating issues as appropriate
  • Coordinate terminations and ensure effective offboarding procedures
  • Manage workplace injury reporting and coordination per OSHA guidelines

Compliance, Benefits & Leave Administration

  • Support benefits enrollment and respond to employee benefits inquiries
  • Assist with leave administration including FMLA, STD, and LTD
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies
  • Maintain compliant personnel files and I-9 documentation

HR Systems & Administration

  • Support payroll processing, timekeeping accuracy, and HRIS data maintenance
  • Assist with learning management systems and employee development programs
  • Complete HR reporting, employment verifications, and unemployment documentation
  • Serve as backup to the HR Director and support departmental projects and committees

Experience:

  • 2+ years recruiting experience required
  • 2+ years in an HR Support or administrative role required
  • Employee Relations experience required
  • Experience in a healthcare environment preferred
  • PHR, SHRM certification preferred

Requirements:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Exceptional writing skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, and Forms
