Human Resources Generalist (Cannabis)

Job Overview
The HR Generalist: San Manuel Cultivation is responsible for supporting the daily human resources operations at The Flower Shop’s cultivation facility. This role executes core HR functions including recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, training coordination, and administration of compensation, benefits, and leave programs.

The HR Generalist partners closely with cultivation leadership to support a productive, compliant, and engaged workforce while ensuring consistent application of company policies, Arizona employment law, and AZDHS regulatory requirements. This role helps foster a culture of accountability, safety, and operational excellence within a regulated cultivation environment.

This position operates in a hybrid capacity, requiring a regular onsite presence at the San Manuel cultivation facility while also allowing remote work for administrative and planning responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

HR Operations & Employee Support

  • Administer and execute daily HR functions including compensation, benefits, leave administration, performance management, and employee relations.
  • Serve as a primary HR resource for employees and managers, providing guidance on HR policies, procedures, and workplace concerns.
  • Handle employment-related inquiries from employees and supervisors, escalating complex or sensitive matters as appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and documentation in HRIS and personnel files.
  • Support employee engagement, morale, and recognition initiatives.
  • Assist with HR projects and initiatives aligned with company growth and operational needs.
  • Support HR reporting, workforce tracking, and data integrity.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support cultivation and company operations.

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Recruit, interview, and facilitate hiring of qualified candidates for cultivation and facility roles.
  • Partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs, required competencies, and workforce planning priorities.
  • Conduct background checks, employment eligibility verification, and onboarding documentation.
  • Coordinate and deliver new hire orientation and onboarding programs.
  • Support onboarding completion, training compliance, and early employee success.

Employee Relations & Performance Management

  • Participate in employee disciplinary meetings, investigations, and terminations.
  • Support performance management processes including documentation, coaching support, and performance evaluations.
  • Assist managers in addressing employee performance, conduct, and attendance issues.
  • Promote fair, consistent, and compliant application of company policies.

Compliance & Regulatory Support

  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and Arizona cannabis regulatory requirements.
  • Track and document completion of required training including safety, anti-harassment, and regulatory training.
  • Maintain awareness of employment law changes, HR best practices, and cannabis regulatory updates.
  • Support workplace safety initiatives in partnership with cultivation leadership.

Work Location & Travel Expectations

  • This role follows a hybrid schedule of approximately three (3) days onsite at the San Manuel cultivation facility and two (2) days remote per week.
  • Regular onsite presence is required to effectively support employees and operations.
  • Candidates should expect a commute of approximately one hour each way from the Tucson area and must have reliable transportation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • 3-5 years of Human Resources experience required.
  • Experience supporting operational, manufacturing, warehouse, or cultivation environments preferred.
  • Knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn HRIS systems.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism.
  • HR experience in cannabis or other regulated industries preferred.
  • Experience supporting high-volume hourly workforces preferred.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
