Human Resources Manager

Consolidated Packaging Group is a growing flexible packaging manufacturer with three facilities. CPG prides itself on its service and continuous improvement. We are looking to build a team of dedicated and motivated individuals who are able to continue to propel CPG to new heights.

Our organization is looking for a Human Resources Manager to join our HR team, and ensure our Ohio employee's are receiving the HR support needed. The successful candidate will have experience in developing and implementing HR strategies, managing employee relations, and leading recruitment initiatives. The HR Manager will also be responsible for ensuring the company’s compliance with all applicable labor laws and regulations.

Position Summary

The Human Resources Manager is responsible for leading all HR functions at our Ohio manufacturing facility. This role serves as the on-site HR leader, partnering closely with plant leadership to support a 24/6 production environment. The HR Manager ensures compliance, drives employee relations initiatives, supports safety and audit readiness, and promotes a positive and accountable workplace culture.

This position requires strong judgment, discretion, operational understanding, and the ability to manage complex employee relations matters in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

Key Responsibilities

Employee Relations & Performance Management

  • Lead investigations involving employee complaints, misconduct, harassment, and policy violations
  • Partner with supervisors and managers on corrective action, coaching, and progressive discipline
  • Ensure consistent application of company policies and procedures
  • Support leadership in conflict resolution and employee engagement initiatives
  • Provide guidance on probationary periods, performance improvement plans, and terminations

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (including Ohio-specific regulations)
  • Oversee I-9 compliance, FLSA standards, wage/hour adherence, and documentation practices
  • Partner with leadership on SQF, OSHA and workplace safety compliance
  • Support external audits (e.g., SQF, safety, social compliance, customer audits)
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records

Talent Acquisition & Onboarding

  • Manage full-cycle recruitment for hourly and salaried roles
  • Oversee onboarding process, including orientation and 90-day check-ins
  • Ensure new hires are properly enrolled in required training and department SOPs

Training & Development

  • Coordinate required compliance training and ongoing employee development
  • Partner with corporate HR on company-wide initiatives
  • Support supervisor development and leadership training efforts
  • Monthly training with production teams across multiple shifts.

Payroll & Benefits Administration

  • Partner with corporate HR and payroll department to ensure accurate payroll processing
  • Support open enrollment and employee benefits questions
  • Address payroll discrepancies and timekeeping concerns

Workforce Planning & Operations Support

  • Support plant leadership in staffing strategies
  • Monitor attendance trends and point systems
  • Analyze HR metrics (turnover, absenteeism, disciplinary trends)
  • Participate in safety committee meetings and plant operations discussions

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required or related
  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in manufacturing or production environments
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and compliance requirements
  • Experience handling investigations and sensitive employee relations matters
  • Ability to operate independently while collaborating with corporate HR
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and sound judgment
  • Bilingual: Spanish

Considered a Plus:

  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification
  • Experience in multi-shift manufacturing environments
  • Experience supporting safety programs and audit processes

Work Environment

This position is primarily on-site in a manufacturing environment and requires regular interaction with production teams across multiple shifts.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
