Human Resources Manager (Temporary)

Compensation: $40–$55/hour (commensurate with experience)
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager – Temporary to serve as the primary HR resource supporting a workforce of approximately 100+ employees across 16 states.
This is a high-impact, standalone role requiring a hands-on HR professional who can independently manage all aspects of HR operations, including employee relations, compliance, recruiting, and day-to-day HR support. The workforce includes salaried employees, sales personnel, administrative staff, and independent contractors, requiring a strong understanding of varied compensation structures and worker classifications.
This position requires someone who can ramp quickly and operate with minimal oversight while supporting leadership and maintaining compliance in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
HR Operations & Workforce Support

Serve as the primary point of contact for all HR-related matters across a multi-state, multi-classification workforce

Provide day-to-day HR support to employees and leadership, ensuring consistent application of policies and practices
Employee Relations & Risk Management

Independently manage complex employee relations matters, including investigations, disciplinary actions, and terminations

Advise leadership on risk mitigation and ensure compliance with employment laws and internal policies
Recruitment & Staffing

Lead full-cycle recruitment efforts across diverse role types

Partner with hiring managers to define role requirements and ensure timely hiring
Performance Management

Guide managers on performance reviews, coaching, and performance improvement

Support compensation and employment changes
Compliance & Multi-State Employment Law

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws across multiple jurisdictions

Manage wage and hour compliance, leave administration, and worker classification

Partner with legal as needed on audits, investigations, and policy updates.
Onboarding & Training

Oversee onboarding processes for employees and contractors

Support training initiatives aligned with business needs
HR Systems & Data

Manage HRIS systems (ADP TotalSource and ADP RUN)

Maintain accurate employee data and reporting
Workforce Planning & Policy Guidance

Support organizational planning and headcount strategy

Ensure consistent and compliant application of HR policies
Required Skills & Abilities

Ability to operate independently as the sole HR resource

Strong knowledge of multi-state employment laws and worker classification

Experience supporting diverse workforce populations (hourly, salaried, contractors, administrative and sales)

Strong employee relations and conflict resolution skills

Excellent communication and organizational skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree preferred

3+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in an HR Business Partner or standalone role

Experience supporting multi-state workforces strongly preferred

Demonstrated ability to independently manage HR operations and compliance
Additional Information:
This is a temporary role designed to provide full HR coverage during a leave of absence. The selected candidate must be able to quickly assume responsibility for all HR functions with minimal ramp time.
