The City of Salisbury’s Summer Internship Program offers current students the opportunity to take on meaningful work, gain valuable exposure to city operations, and build professional skills. As a Human Resources Intern, you will support a variety of generalist HR functions, including Talent Management, Benefits Administration, OrganizationalTraining & Development, and Risk Management. This internship provides hands-on assignments, mentorship from experienced professionals, and opportunities to collaborate with leaders across the organization.

As an HR Intern, you may support:

Reviewing and updating job data including titles, classifications, and compensation

Developing onboarding content to strengthen competency-building for new employees

Conducting compensation reviews and analyses to support fair and competitive practices

Assisting in program administration, implementation, and data analysis

Supporting recruitment preparation:

Marketing events to the community and prospective applicants

Posting positions on job boards (Indeed, LinkedIn, etc.)

Reviewing applicant pools and identifying high-quality candidates

Using vacancy reports to create targeted weekly recruitment messaging

Researching hard-to-fill roles and sharing tailored job information

Researching recruitment, retention, and recognition best practices among other municipalities Recommending updates to retention and referral programs

Minimum Requirements:

Currently pursuing a BS/BA degree in Business, Human Resources Management, Psychology, Communication, Management, or related field

Demonstrated leadership experience (student organizations, athletics, RA roles, or significant work projects)

Comfort using Microsoft Teams and Office Suite

Interpersonal communication skills

Creative, Customer Service Oriented

Comfortable Presenting at all levels

Must have a valid NC Driver’s License Salary: $15.00 per hour Hours: 30 per week
