HVAC Mechanic I (CFC Certification required, HVAC training desired)

The HVAC Mechanic I performs routine maintenance and basic repairs on HVAC systems, including replacing motors, pumps, seals, and bearings, and servicing components such as strainers and filters. They also communicate with customers to provide service updates and support daily operations.

• Replace/repair motors, pumps, seals, and bearings.
• Clean strainers, adjust pressure, reduce valves, and expansion tanks
• Recover refrigerant and dispose of HVAC equipment following EPA guidelines.
• Arrange and clean tools, replace simple components, and change filters.
• Must have knowledge of control circuity and basic wiring.
• Mechanics may work under supervision to receive technical guidance from a supervisor or higher-level technician.
• Communicate directly with customers to assess needs, provide updates, and address inquiries or concerns.
• Communicate with scheduler to update status of repairs and estimate completion dates.
• Ensures completed work meets quality control standards.
• Assist with orienting and training new employees and assist in work assignments.
• Must be able to work independently and as a team.
• All Other Duties/Projects as Assigned

Qualifications:

• Have at least CFC certification. Additional or civilian HVAC training is desired.
• Ability to work in a variety of different environments, including inclement weather and high man lifts.
• Ability to read and understand schematics and blueprints.
• Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
• Must be able to prioritize tasks and work in a fast-paced environment
• Must be able to provide customer service in a professional and courteous manner
• Must have the ability and be willing to work outside of normal working hours such as back shift and weekends, in the event of unplanned outages.
• If on call, you must be able to respond within one hour.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to stand, walk, bend, crawl, reach, push, pull, and climb.
• Must be able to lift 40 lbs.

Security Requirements:

• Required drug screening, physical, and background check.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Ft Lee, Virginia installation clearance and CAC card.

Driving Requirements:

• A valid state driver license is required. Must be able to obtain and maintain coverage by HMG’s insurance company.
