Position Summary:
The ICT Technician is responsible for maintaining the school’s (or organization’s) IT infrastructure, providing technical support, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and ensuring smooth operation of all ICT systems. The role involves installation, configuration, repair, and maintenance of computers, networks, and related equipment.
Key Responsibilities:1. Hardware Maintenance & Support
- Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, projectors, and other IT equipment.
- Troubleshoot hardware issues and repair or replace faulty components.
- Ensure all devices are functional and updated for daily operations.
- Conduct routine inspections of ICT labs, classrooms, and offices.
2. Software Installation & Troubleshooting
- Install and update operating systems, software applications, and security tools.
- Diagnose and resolve software-related issues across staff and student systems.
- Maintain software licenses and ensure compliance.
- Assist with configuration of educational software or learning platforms (if applicable).
3. Network & Connectivity Management
- Support the configuration and maintenance of wired and wireless networks.
- Troubleshoot internet connectivity issues and coordinate with service providers when needed.
- Monitor network performance and report irregularities.
4. User Support (Helpdesk)
- Provide timely technical support to staff and students.
- Maintain a log of issues, resolutions, and pending tasks.
- Train staff on the use of basic ICT tools and systems when required.
5. System Security & Data Management
- Ensure antivirus and security software are active and updated.
- Assist with data backup procedures and recovery when required.
- Follow IT security protocols to protect organizational data.
6. Inventory & Documentation
- Maintain an updated inventory of all IT assets and equipment.
- Document installations, repairs, and maintenance activities.
- Recommend upgrades or replacements for outdated equipment.
7. Coordination & Support
- Coordinate with vendors for repairs, procurement, and maintenance services.
- Assist in setting up ICT equipment for events, trainings, and meetings.
- Support digital learning infrastructure (interactive boards, multimedia, etc., if applicable).
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Diploma/ Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
- Hands-on experience in hardware repair and software troubleshooting.
- Understanding of LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi configurations, and basic networking.
- Familiarity with Windows OS, MS Office, and other common software tools.
- Strong problem-solving and multitasking abilities.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
