We are a non-profit organization dedicated to serving communities throughout Washington, Oregon, and Idaho with a wide range of services for individuals of all ages and backgrounds. The Immigration Specialist is responsible for providing immigration support, advocacy, and counseling to clients in our Seattle, Washington and SeaTac, Washington offices and assist in outreach and education to the immigrant and refugee community in Washington.
Please note that this position will work out of our Northgate office for the first 6 months. After training is complete this position will be based in our SeaTac office. This position is an onsite role.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:- Provide information and advocacy on a wide variety of immigration matters including but not limited to Naturalization, Adjustment of Status, and Family Reunification.
- Complete accreditation training and credentialing in a reasonable time established by Safe Route Director and Staff Attorney.
- Provide in-person and phone assistance to clients with their immigration matters and provide ongoing case management and support.
- Schedule clients for appointments.
- Maintain accurate client files and detailed case notes.
- Attend ongoing training and continuing education courses to keep updated on recent changes in Immigration Law.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

REQUIREMENTS:- Knowledge of Immigration Law and of USCIS processes and eligibility requirements for immigration benefits including but not limited to Naturalization, Adjustment of Status, and Family Reunification.
- Minimum 1-year prior experience as a paralegal or legal assistant in immigration.
- Possess strong communication (both written and verbal), time-management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask and set priorities.
- Ability to work as a supportive team member.
- Familiarity with standard office procedures and basic knowledge of office equipment (printer, photocopy, fax, scanner, phone, etc.).
- Requires strict adherence of HIPAA standards in the office workspace to ensure client confidentiality.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must be working towards partial accreditation by the Department of Justice (DOJ).
