Position Overview
Heiser CA is seeking a high-caliber Import Operations Director to lead our regional trade and logistics division from our primary distribution hub in Doha’s Industrial Area. As the strategic lead for all inbound movement, you will be responsible for navigating the complexities of global supply chains, ensuring seamless customs integration, and optimizing warehouse throughput at our Street 34 facility.
The ideal candidate is a master of international trade compliance with a "player-coach" mentality—someone who can manage high-level stakeholder relationships while maintaining rigorous oversight of technical logistics data and port-to-warehouse workflows.
Core Responsibilities
- Strategic Trade Roadmap: Develop and execute an end-to-end import strategy that minimizes transit lead times and reduces total landed costs for the Qatar market.
- Customs & Regulatory Leadership: Act as the primary liaison with Qatar Community Customs and the Ministry of Commerce to ensure 100% compliance with Bayan system requirements and regional trade laws.
- Logistics Orchestration: Oversee the coordination of international freight forwarders, shipping lines, and local drayage providers to ensure timely arrival at Warehouse 78.
- Warehouse Integration: Collaborate with the floor management team at Street 34 to synchronize inbound schedules with storage capacity and labor allocation.
- Data-Driven Oversight: Utilize advanced Excel automation (XLOOKUP, Macros) and ERP tools to monitor shipment tracking, demurrage costs, and inventory accuracy.
- Systems Optimization: Direct the implementation of automated tracking and documentation systems within Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) or equivalent platforms.
- Vendor & Contract Management: Negotiate and manage high-value service level agreements (SLAs) with global 3PL providers and insurance underwriters.
- Team Mentorship: Lead and scale a multidisciplinary team of documentation specialists and logistics coordinators, fostering a culture of technical integrity and professional growth.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, International Trade, or Business Administration.
- Experience: 12+ years in international logistics/import operations, with at least 6 years in a directorial or senior management role within the GCC.
- Technical Mastery: Deep knowledge of Incoterms 2020, Letters of Credit (LCs), and harmonized system (HS) coding.
- Language: Professional fluency in English is mandatory. Proficiency in Arabic, Hindi, or Tagalog is a significant advantage for managing local ground operations and vendor relations.
- Analytical Skills: Expert-level command of Microsoft Excel for cost-benefit analysis and supply chain modeling.
