Head of Oil and Gas Operations
The Head of Oil and Gas Operations leads all operational activity across upstream, midstream, or downstream assets, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant delivery of production and business targets. This role is responsible for operational performance, budget control, team leadership, risk management, and coordination with technical, HSE, and commercial stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily oil and gas operations to ensure continuity, safety, and efficiency.
- Set and monitor production targets, operational KPIs, and performance improvement plans.
- Lead cross-functional teams, contractors, and subcontractors.
- Manage budgets, operating costs, and resource allocation.
- Ensure compliance with HSE, regulatory, and environmental standards.
- Develop operational procedures, emergency response plans, and risk mitigation measures.
- Coordinate maintenance, shutdowns, upgrades, and commissioning of facilities.
- Prepare management reports and present operational performance to senior leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, petroleum, operations management, or a related field.
- 10+ years of progressive oil and gas operations experience, including leadership roles.
- Strong knowledge of production systems, safety regulations, and asset integrity management.
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage budgets, and make high-pressure decisions.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in Qatar or GCC oil and gas operations.
- Familiarity with upstream production, refinery operations, or integrated energy assets.
- Strong analytical, strategic planning, and crisis management skills.
