Position Description
Ma’aden Barrick Copper Company (MBCC) is seeking to recruit an Industrial Hygienist and occupational health to join and grow our team.

Responsibilities:
1. Workplace Monitoring and Assessment
Conduct regular workplace inspections and surveys to identify, evaluate, and control health hazards (chemical, physical, biological, and ergonomic).
Perform qualitative and quantitative exposure assessments (noise, dust, fumes, WBV, vapors, heat stress, DPM, etc.).
Maintain accurate sampling records and exposure data logs.
2. Risk Evaluation and Control
Analyze sampling results and determine exposure levels against applicable standards (e.g. NIOSH ACGIH, OSHA, HCIS, and Saudi MOH).
Recommend and implement control measures engineering, administrative, and PPE to mitigate identified risks.
Develop and monitor the effectiveness of exposure control plans.
3. Health Surveillance and Medical Coordination
Coordinate with medical teams to ensure proper medical surveillance programs are in place for exposed workers.
Participate in reviewing pre-employment, periodic, and exit medical results to identify occupational trends.
Support early detection of occupational diseases through medical data analysis.
4. Documentation and Reporting
Prepare detailed industrial hygiene reports, including findings, risk evaluations, and recommendations.
Maintain calibration records and logs of IH equipment.
Ensure all IH documentation is compliant with company policy and local regulatory requirements.
5. Training and Awareness
Conduct awareness sessions on occupational health hazards and preventive measures for employees and contractors.
Support training on topics such as noise conservation, respiratory protection, chemical safety, and heat stress prevention.
6. Compliance and Standards Implementation
Ensure all operations comply with Saudi regulatory and international requirements (HCIS, ACGIH TLVs, OSHA PELs , MOH).
Participate in audits, inspections, and internal reviews related to occupational health and hygiene.
Support implementation of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.
7. Emergency Preparedness and Response
Provide technical input for emergency response involving chemical spills, gas leaks, or other hazardous exposures.
Ensure industrial hygiene considerations are included in emergency drills and response procedures.
8. Continuous Improvement
Recommend process improvements based on monitoring results and new technological developments.
Stay updated on industrial hygiene trends, regulatory updates, and best practices.
Qualification Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, or Health Sciences (Paramedical or equivalent)
Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or Equivalent Professional Certification is desirable.
Occupational Noise, Heat Stress, and Chemical Sampling Training
Respiratory Protection Program Administrator (RPA) and Fit Testing Certification preferred.
First Aid / CPR / BLS certification.
Experience and Skills Requirements:
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in Industrial Hygiene or Occupational Health in the mining, oil & gas, or heavy industry sector.
Proven experience conducting IH surveys (noise, dust, fumes, DPM, ventilation, heat stress, illumination, etc.).
Strong background in developing and implementing exposure monitoring programs , medical surveillance coordination , and risk assessments.
Excellent understanding of ACGIH TLVs , OSHA , NIOSH , and ISO 45001 standards.
Proficient in using IH monitoring equipment (noise dosimeter, sound level meter, air sampling pumps, heat stress monitor, etc.).
Strong analytical and report-writing skills.
Ability to interpret lab results and recommend corrective measures.
Excellent communication and coordination skills with multi-disciplinary teams.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and exposure to IH software systems is a plus.
Fluent in both English and Arabic (spoken and written).
