Job Title- IT Administrator

FLSA Status- Exempt

Department- Information Technology

Pay Range- $50,946.00 - $75,795.00

Reports To - Library Director

Effective Date- 02/19/2026

Objective of the position:

The IT Administrator is responsible for maintaining the operational integrity, security, and sustainability of the Library’s technology infrastructure, including network systems, cloud-based platforms, endpoint devices, and enterprise applications. The position supports day-to-day technology operations while planning for future technological needs that enhance customer service delivery, organizational effectiveness, and data security in alignment with the Library’s mission and strategic goals.

Job Summary:

· Serves as the Library’s primary technical liaison to the Central Library Consortium (CLC) and other shared service providers to ensure the effective local implementation, integration, security, and operation of consortium-managed systems, including the Integrated Library System (ILS), public access computing environments, authentication services, and digital resources platforms

· Diagnoses and resolves hardware, software, and network issues affecting Library operations and customer access to technology resources

· Implements and maintains cybersecurity safeguards, including identity and access management, endpoint protection, patch governance, backup integrity, and compliance with applicable data privacy standards

· Deploys and manages endpoint devices and network-connected equipment using centralized administration tools and lifecycle management practices

· Coordinates with technology vendors and managed service providers to ensure system uptime, security, and performance

· Researches, evaluates, and recommends technology solutions that improve operational efficiency, service delivery, and long-term sustainability of Library infrastructure

· Participates in technology budgeting, capital planning, and lifecycle replacement scheduling

· Assists Library leadership in long-range planning of technology systems to meet evolving customer expectations and organizational needs

· Develops and implements preventative maintenance schedules for Library technology equipment

· Maintains accurate hardware, software, licensing, and asset inventory records

· Develops replacement and upgrade schedules for technology infrastructure and devices

· Maintains communications with library departments to keep a smooth work flow, create consistency in the manner work is conducted and meet special needs of the departments

· Develops library’s action list for each year with other department managers

· Provides training to staff on new technology systems and digital tools

· Checks e-mail and SharePoint frequently

· Monitors emerging technologies and industry best practices to ensure the Library’s technology environment remains secure, efficient, and current

· Represent library on CLC IT Committee and appropriate subcommittees

Essential functions:

· Knowledge of and ability to conform to Library policies, procedures, and applicable technology governance standards

· Ability to manage technology-related projects, including system upgrades, deployments, and infrastructure improvements

· Collaborates with Central Library Consortium (CLC) staff, vendors, and Library leadership to implement and maintain technology systems that support Library operations

· Maintains current knowledge of developments in library and enterprise technology systems, including network security practices, cloud services, and endpoint management tools

· Ability to interact tactfully and effectively with staff, consortium personnel, vendors, and service providers regarding technology services and system performance

· Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts and system impacts to non-technical staff

· Provides day-to-day technical support to Library staff and assists with resolving customer-facing technology issues, including troubleshooting hardware, software, and connectivity problems

· Ability to meet the physical demands listed

· Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends

· Valid Driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and access to reliable personal transport in order to travel to Branch location for both planned and emergency assignments

Position Requirements:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience in technology support and infrastructure administration

· Ability to provide responsive technical support in a customer service-oriented environment

· Demonstrated ability to support technology services that enhance staff productivity and customer access to Library resources

· Perform job duties with tact and discretion

· Previous experience in a library, educational, municipal, or other public service environment preferred

· Working knowledge of computer networking concepts, endpoint device management, and cloud-based productivity platforms

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk and hear. The employee must regularly lift and or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Working conditions: Library operating/non-operating hours including nights and weekends.
