Position Overview
The Infrastructure Presales Engineer plays a key role in supporting the sales team by providing technical expertise, solution design, and architecture guidance across Lenovo, Dell, and HP solutions; VMware virtualization; backup solutions; Nutanix HCI; Microsoft enterprise solutions; and Red Hat technologies.
This role interacts with customers to understand their technical and business needs, converts those needs into customized infrastructure solutions, and artfully communicates these solutions. As a trusted advisor, the engineer will make sure that the solutions are cost-effective, scalable, meet customer needs, and adhere to industry best practices.
Key Responsibility:

Collaborate with account managers and business development teams to qualify opportunities and define technical solution strategies.

Engage directly with customers to gather requirements, assess infrastructure environments, and identify challenges.

Design and propose solutions leveraging Lenovo servers, storage, and management tools, VMware, Nutanix, Microsoft, and Red Hat technologies.

Create and deliver technical presentations, demos, and proof-of-concepts (POCs) to showcase proposed solutions.

Prepare solution architecture documents, high-level designs (HLD), and bills of materials (BOM).

Respond to RFPs, RFQs, and tenders with detailed technical content.

Work closely with vendors (Lenovo, VMware, Nutanix, Microsoft, and Red Hat) to align solutions with the latest offerings and certifications.

Provide guidance on sizing, scalability, and performance optimization for infrastructure solutions.

Support handovers to post-sales/delivery teams, ensuring smooth transition and project execution.

Stay updated on emerging technologies, industry trends, and competitor offerings.
Qualifications & Skills
Education & Experience
-
Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or related field.
-
5+ years of IT infrastructure experience, with at least 2+ years in presales, solution architecture, or consulting.

Strong background in Lenovo, Dell, HP, Veritas, VMware, Nutanix, Microsoft, and Red Hat technologies.
Technical Expertise

Lenovo: ThinkSystem servers, storage arrays, and XClarity management.

VMware: vSphere, vSAN, Horizon VDI, NSX, and VMware Cloud Foundation.

Nutanix: AHV, Prism Central, cluster sizing, capacity planning.

Microsoft: Windows Server, Active Directory, M365, Azure hybrid cloud.

Red Hat: RHEL, Ansible, and OpenShift (advantage).

Sizing and capacity planning for compute, storage, networking, and virtualization.

Strong understanding of hybrid cloud, disaster recovery, and data protection strategies.

Familiarity with ITIL and enterprise IT service frameworks.

Preferred Certifications

Lenovo Data Center Sales Professional / Technical Sales Professional.

VMware VCP/VCAP (ideally with presales specialization).

Nutanix Certified Professional (NCP) or Nutanix Certified Advanced Professional (NCAP).

Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert.

Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) / Specialist.

ITIL Foundation (advantage).
