WHO WE ARE

Do you want to be part of transforming scientific research into sustainable innovations that valorize material resources, bring economic value, and benefit society towards a greener future? We are constantly growing and looking for talents to join our team to help us realize this mission.

VALORIZEN is an award winning research and innovation center that develops, scales up, and commercializes technologies to valorize sustainable materials. VALORIZEN is the research arm and a wholly owned subsidiary of United Kingdom-based ScaleUp Innovations Holdings Limited. We are currently scaling up one of our recycling technologies for date palm agriculture residues and building our first industrial-scale manufacturing facility to bring our sustainable innovations to market as soon as possible.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As our Innovation Programs, Grants & Communications Coordinator, you will be at the heart of Valorizen's growth engine — identifying and securing funding opportunities from local and international sources including EU programs such as Horizon Europe, building research consortiums with partner institutions, coordinating funded projects end-to-end, and communicating our impact to the world. This is a high-impact, cross-functional role that sits at the intersection of research, business development, and communications.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Grants & Funding

  • Identify, track, and evaluate local and international grant and funding opportunities aligned with Valorizen's R&D objectives — including EU programs, bilateral funds, national science foundations, and development banks.
  • Lead the preparation and submission of grant applications in collaboration with R&D, legal, and management teams.
  • Build and manage a grants pipeline, tracking deadlines, eligibility criteria, and submission requirements.
  • Manage post-award grant reporting, ensuring compliance with all donor and funder requirements.
  • Liaise with funders for updates, feedback, performance reporting, and relationship management.

Consortium Building & Project Coordination

  • Identify and engage potential research and industry partners — universities, research centers, companies, and government bodies — to build collaborative consortiums for funded R&D projects.
  • Lead consortium setup activities including partner agreements, roles definition, and work package allocation.
  • Coordinate the execution of funded and collaborative R&D projects, ensuring milestones are met on time and within budget.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between Valorizen and consortium partners, maintaining strong working relationships throughout project lifecycles.
  • Support IP strategy in collaborative projects, ensuring Valorizen's innovations and contributions are properly protected.

Intellectual Property Support

  • Collaborate with R&D and legal teams to identify, document, and file IP assets including patents, trademarks, and trade secrets.
  • Maintain organized IP documentation and coordinate with external patent attorneys when required.
  • Align IP activities with Valorizen's technology commercialization and licensing strategy.
  • Represent Valorizen at relevant conferences, networking events, and grant-related workshops.

REQUIREMENTS

 •   Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary professional team.

 •   Prior experience working in innovation, research, sustainability, or technology sectors.

 •   Hands-on experience in grant administration, IP drafting, events management, and awards submissions.

 •   High attention to detail, accuracy, and punctuality in meeting deadlines.

 •   Familiarity with EU funding frameworks (e.g. Horizon Europe) or similar international programs.

 •   Experience using grant management or project management tools

QUALIFICATIONS

 •   Bachelor's degree in Science, Biotechnology, Engineering, Environmental Studies, or a related field.

 •   Full professional fluency in English (written and spoken); additional languages such as French or Arabic are a plus.

 •   At least 5-10 years of experience in grants management, research project coordination, communications, or IP administration.

 •   Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

 •   Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives for funders and partners.

 •   Strong interpersonal skills and experience in stakeholder and partner relationship management.
