Instructional Designer

Job Summary

Bernina Education provides product training to the Company’s dealer network, employees, and end-users for the purpose of increasing sales by building brand loyalty, raising product awareness, and enhancing the overall customer experience.

This remote position will work as a leader of Instructional Content within the Education Department. The primary responsibilities of this position will be to lead the online learning curriculum and guide workbooks for all product segments of the Education team, as well as create various print or digital documents, proof content, and tech edit various publications. This includes designing assets like workbooks, eBooks, technical data charts, tutorials, and patterns using Adobe software. The editor proofs written tutorials and powerpoints of the team and assisting with basic photo resizing and touchups, as needed. Sewing skills are essential to the role in order to creative effective strategies for online learning and to make appropriate editorial decisions. The ideal candidate should have experience in adult education in order to design content that supports adult learning and customer satisfaction. In addition, experience using project management software, like ClickUp, is preferred. This primary function of this position is design in service of learning.

Essential Functions

  • Lead design initiatives and work with subject matter experts to develop engaging and interactive content for digital online learning with video,animations, interactive modules, and simulations
  • Lead design and delivery of educational workbooks
  • Typography and formatting for long-form educational content
  • Translating complex processes into step-by-step visuals
  • Understanding of LMS platforms for content delivery
  • Fluency with Adobe Suite: InDesign, Premiere, Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Ability to learn new software programs and assist others in using them
  • Comprehensive understanding of sewing techniques and terms, BERNINA knowledge preferred
  • Expertise with brand systems, design templates, and governance tools
  • Work closely with Senior Education Manager to ensure schedule and deadlines are being met
  • ·Attend pre-production and planning meetings, team meetings and select organization trainings/events.
  • Self-motivated and reliable, with a proven ability to work independently and drive results
  • Effective multitasker, managing multiple projects and tight deadlines with efficiency and precision
  • Open communicator within remote work environment- availability during central time zone working hours
  • Ability to lift 50lbs

Competencies

  • Graphic Design software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Canva
  • Video Editing software such as Adobe Premier or Camtasia
  • Collaboration software such as Microsoft Teams and Clickup
  • Authoring tools such as Articulate, Adobe Captivate are a plus
  • Understanding of Microsoft office programs: Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Sewing experience required.
  • Reliable and self-motivated independent worker who is also a team player
  • Good organizational skills and ability to manage schedules and deadlines, problem solve, troubleshooting in high-pressure situations
  • Exceptional written skills and creative image based story telling skills
  • Strong team orientation and communication skills

Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position based on a 40-hour workweek, Monday through Friday. Hours vary. Frequent overtime and some Saturdays are required.

Travel

Occasional travel may be required. Travel includes driving and/or air travel and overnight stays away from home for up to a week at a time.

Required Education and Experience

An undergraduate degree, or equivalent years of work experience and ability to sew are required.

Preferred Education and Experience

Previous teaching and/or industry experience are preferred.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
